Mission
As a Veterans association we are committed to, and stress the importance of upholding and defending the Constitution of the United States of America and the American Flag; and promoting understanding, appreciation and respect for the sacrifices and commitment given to the United States of America by the American Veteran, in general, and the Vietnamese-American Veteran in particular and focusing on: _Honoring Yesterday by collecting and preserving the past through photographs, stories and artifacts; _Appreciating Today by making a positive difference in the lives of surviving Veterans through recognition, camaraderie and solidarity; _Inspiring Tomorrow through education and advocacy. Honoring Veterans .Veteran's Day Parade and Ceremony to honor military veterans. The Parade starts near the City County Fairgrounds on Downtown. The parade begins at 9 a.m. A ceremony follows the parade. Guest speakers include CDR , USN, retired, Congressman and Mayor. There will be acitivites for children, the Concert Band will provide entertainment, Slick's Garage will host a car and bike show and food will be available from The USArmyVS. Final Salute .The staff aThese teams provide trained uniformed men and women to perform the ceremonial funeral duties of covering and uncovering of a casket with an American Flag, the folding and presentation of the flag to a widow or family member, a Salute, and the playing of Taps by a military bugler. This service is provided free to the family of any deceased honorably-discharged veteran. The staff ensures that all units undergo training, are provided with equipment, and are provided with a small stipend for each service performed. Volunteer or Give The USArmyVS. System depends on the goodwill of our benefactors and volunteers who wish to give something back to America's heroes. Volunteering provide many important functions throughout The USArmyVS. System and help make our patients' stay more enjoyable. Volunteers can perform a number of services, and a volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our many assignments. To volunteer, we will be happy to visit with you and discuss how you can help us in our mission to provide comfort and care to Vietnam America's veterans. Giving Cash donations are used for the comfort and welfare of our veteran patients, including — * Homeless Veterans Program * hygiene products * coffee, juice and supplies for Greeter Program. Items which are accepted include — * magazines * coffee * quilts, lap robes, etc. * telephone cards To make a cash or non-cash contribution, Volunteers can perform a number of services, and a volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our many assignments.
